Where It All Began

Minetta Wax Co.’s line of artisan candles was founded in early 2020 by New York City-native and Black creative, Anthony Lawson. Over the course of his time living on Minetta Lane, a quaint street tucked within the West side of Manhattan, Lawson felt a deep connection to the overlooked iconic Black history of the location. In the second half of the 19th century and early 20th century, Minetta Lane was known to be a thriving Black community referred to as Little Africa, a place where Black merchants not only prospered, but lived hand in hand with people of all cultures and ethnicities.

Every product that bears the Minetta Wax label is a testament to our unwavering commitment to craftsmanship. Our dedicated artisans pour their expertise and passion into every candle, wax melt, and wax accessory we create. We meticulously select the finest raw materials, from pure, sustainably sourced waxes to premium fragrances, ensuring that each product meets our exacting standards.
